Hoboken is the perfect city to spend your long summer days and warm summer nights. With so much to do and beautiful views of the New York City skyline, there’s no better place to enjoy a night out with your family or catch up with your friends. If you live in the area, mark your calendars because August is a busy month in Hoboken! We put together the top 5 things to do in August so that you don’t have to miss out on any of the fun.

Pet Adoption Day

1. Pet Adoption Day at Pier 13

Cute pets and a gorgeous view… what could be better? Head over to Pier 13 on August 13th (weather permitting) and you may just leave with your new best friend! Pier 13 teamed up with the Liberty Humane Society to help find lifelong, loving homes for animals in need. If you have been thinking about adding a pet to your family, help make room in an animal shelter and adopt a dog or cat in need of a new home. Pier 13, the Liberty Humane Society, and your new furry friend will all be extremely thankful!

2. Long Gone Daddy at the Mile Square Theatre

You’re not going to want to miss this world premier! Written and performed by Joseph Gallo, “Long Gone Daddy” is all about the comical adventures of being a stay-at- home dad. Gallo’s semi-autobiographical play is a follow-up to his critically acclaimed off-Broadway solo play titled, “My Italy Story.” This new show shares Gallo’s thoughts and journey of learning the difference between being called dad compared to father. Be sure to purchase your tickets early! The last weekend the show will be at Mile Square Theatre is August 4 th -7 th .

3. Movies Under the Stars

Looking for an unforgettable Wednesday night with your kids? They’ll never forget watching a movie under the stars! Grab your blankets and some popcorn and enjoy a movie under the stars at Pier A Park. With Minions, The Peanuts Movie, and Inside Out on the roster for Movies Under The Stars in August, it will be a great night the whole family will remember.

Fruit Stand

4. Farmers Market

What’s better than one Farmers Market? How about three farmers’ markets! With the Downtown Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays, the Uptown Farmer’s Market on Thursdays, and the Garden Street Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, there’s the perfect market for you, no matter where you live in Hoboken. Not only are these farmers markets the perfect place to pick up locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables, but it is also a great gathering place for the community, where you can share stories, smiles, and recipes with your neighbors.

Pure Pita

5. BYOB at Pure Pita!

Looking for the perfect lunch or dinner spot after your long summer day in Hoboken? We recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Pure Pita! Situated right in the heart of Hoboken on Washington Street, any destination is just a short walk away. Grab your friends, your favorite bottle of wine (they’re BYOB) and enjoy a healthy Mediterranean dish.
